Good morning,
You can find the option to customize the default installation path in the launcher settings (bottom left).
Would a path selection for each individual installation possibly be more beneficial?
changed category from "General" to "Settings"
I would like to know why I keep having to reinstall certain programs. Why don't they stay installed?
I see there was no reply to @christian_team_connect so I would like to reply. I've been in the computer industry since 1977, am a computer desktop and network architect, and software engineer. Having worked for several software companies, including Symantec in the Peter Norton product group, I've had quite a bit of experience not only developing software, but communicating with clients and customers.
Frankly, there is never a question about whether or not to provide customization options. It should always be available. You don't have to throw it in a users face necessarily, but it should be an option that can be selected (either with a checkbox, or customize button) that allows someone to decide where they want an application installed.
Providing a settings in your connect app to select a default base install path is inadequate. Especially in these days where many customers have multiple (and several) drives on their computers or certainly subdirectories for categorizing different types of software. As an example, I have over 10 graphics / photo editing applications all installed under D:\Graphics\ and too many to count drive tools and other utilities installed under E:\Tools\ where even if these were on the same drive, your mechanism doesn't allow me to simply install to the one I choose, or another for that matter.
So my recommendation to you is that you provide some mechanism that allows a client to install to whatever path they wish regardless of a default path set. Don't get me wrong, the default path is still a good thing. For many (even myself) this would be adequate for most installs. But always leave room for allowing a specific path to be put in for any install.
This function is now available from version 1.6.67 :)
